FOCUSED EXPERIENTIAL THERAPY intensives

Sometimes growth requires more than traditional weekly therapy.

For many high-functioning women, moms, and professionals, weekly sessions can feel too slow, too fragmented, or difficult to stay connected to in the midst of busy lives. When you’re ready for deeper, more focused work, a different approach can make all the difference.

Focused Experiential Intensives offer dedicated, multi-hour sessions designed entirely around you—a chance to step away from daily distractions and fully immerse yourself in meaningful, transformative work.

Whether you’re processing trauma, navigating relationship challenges, or working through long-standing patterns, these therapy intensives create space for real movement—not just insight, but lasting change.

Why Intensives Work

This focused, time-limited approach allows for deeper reflection, integration, and breakthroughs that aren’t always possible in traditional weekly therapy.

Rather than starting and stopping each week, we stay with the work—allowing your nervous system, emotions, and insights to unfold in real time.

We integrate a range of evidence-based and experiential approaches, including:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
  • Somatic and nervous system-based work
  • Psychodrama and experiential techniques

This allows you to access insight, emotional processing, and regulation in a more connected and efficient way.

A Personalized, High-Touch Experience

Each intensive is fully customized to your needs. No two are the same.

We begin with a consultation to clarify your goals, then collaboratively design a structure that supports your unique process—choosing the pacing, modalities, and focus areas that will best support meaningful change.

Who Intensives Are For

Intensives are especially supportive for those who:

  • Feel stuck despite doing therapy in the past
  • Don’t have the time or capacity for weekly sessions
  • Want to move through something more efficiently
  • Are navigating trauma, transitions, or relationship challenges
  • Prefer a private, focused, high-touch experience

They can also be used adjunctively alongside work with a primary therapist, allowing for deeper work while maintaining continuity of care.

If you’re feeling ready for a more focused and intentional approach, we can explore whether an intensive is the right fit for you.

Frequently Asked Questions about EMDR

A therapy intensive is a focused, multi-hour therapeutic experience dedicated entirely to your growth. Unlike traditional weekly sessions, intensives allow for deeper reflection, integration, and sustained attention without the stop-and-start rhythm of shorter appointments.

Because we have extended time together, intensives give us the flexibility to draw from a variety of approaches—such as EMDR, experiential exercises, mindfulness, and psychodrama—tailored to your goals and needs in the moment. This concentrated format often allows for meaningful breakthroughs and progress that can take weeks or months to unfold in standard therapy.

Therapy intensives are ideal for anyone ready to make focused, meaningful changes in their life. They are especially helpful for individuals processing trauma, navigating relationship challenges, or addressing long-standing patterns of behavior or emotional blocks. Anyone seeking concentrated support, deeper insight, or accelerated personal growth can benefit.

For single-incident trauma (such as birth trauma), we often begin with a 2-hour EMDR intensive. For deeper or more complex work, 3-hour, 4-hour, and full-day intensives are also available.

The format and length of your intensive will be tailored to your specific needs and goals. A full-day intensive may look like 9:00 AM–4:00 PM, with a one-hour break for lunch. Multi-day intensives are also available when additional time and support would be beneficial.

Each intensive is thoughtfully structured to balance focused therapeutic work with time for reflection and integration, allowing for a supportive and sustainable pace.

To get the most out of your intensive:

  • Plan for the full length of your scheduled intensive—whether multi-hour or full day—to be as free from distractions as possible.
  • For longer or full-day intensives, plan for a lunch break by packing a meal or visiting a nearby restaurant.
  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to sit, move, and relax with ease.
  • Consider your goals and priorities ahead of time—what feels most important to focus on or shift?
  • Come prepared to engage fully, while allowing yourself space to reflect and process emotions as they arise.

After an intensive, your brain and emotions may continue processing the material explored during the day. Many clients notice insights, relief, or shifts in perspective in the days following. It’s normal to experience lingering emotions or reflections, and planning a calm evening afterward can help integration. Follow-up sessions are available as needed to support continued growth, process new material, and help you apply insights in your daily life.
